NAATI CCL Exam Format
The NAATI CCL Test lasts approximately 20 minutes and is available in multiple languages, including Sinhalese. The test consists of two dialogues that reflect real-life scenarios commonly encountered in Australian community settings—such as healthcare, legal services, social support, and education.
Each dialogue features a conversation between an English speaker and a speaker of the target language. Dialogues are around 300 words long, evenly split between the two languages, and divided into segments of 30 to 35 words. Candidates listen to each segment and interpret it into the other language. If necessary, they may request one repetition per dialogue.
Performance is assessed across several key criteria:
- Accuracy: conveying the intended meaning precisely;
- Completeness: avoiding omissions or additions;
- Language quality: demonstrating correct grammar and clear expression in both languages;
- Cultural competence: interpreting idioms or expressions appropriately;
- Fluency: interpreting smoothly without significant pauses.
Test results are usually released within 4 to 6 weeks. If unsuccessful, candidates can retake the test after a waiting period, though they must pay the test fee again.
Why Human Feedback? not AI.
The official NAATI CCL exam is marked by qualified human examiners, not AI. We believe the most effective way to prepare is through the same human-centred approach used in the real exam.
Our experienced trainers carefully review each mock test and provide personalised feedback based on your performance. Rather than simply identifying mistakes, we explain where marks may be lost, highlight areas for improvement, and offer practical suggestions to help you develop your interpreting skills and confidence.
