Scenario: This dialogue conversation takes place between an immigration officer and a student at the airport. The Immigration officer wants to inspect the student.

The dialogue begins now.

1	Immigration Officer	How are you gentleman, Can you please come this side. I need to discuss some details with you.
	Translation	කොහොමද මහත්මයා මේ පැත්තට එන්න පුලුවන්ද. මට ඔබ සමඟ විස්තර කිහිපයක් සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට අවශ්‍යයි.
	Student	මම හොඳින්, මහත්මයා. ඔයාට කොහොම ද. මගේ වීසා එකේ මොකක් හරි ප්‍රශ්නයක්ද. මට පැමිණීම සඳහා වලංගු වීසා බලපත්‍රයක් ඇත. කරුණාකර මට පැහැදිලි කරන්න පුළුවන්ද?
	Translation	I’m Fine, Sir. How are you. Is any issue with my visa. I have valid visa for the arrival. Can you please explain me.
2	Immigration Officer	I need to do inspect you as per our procedures. Where are you coming from? I noticed that you were little nervous.
	Translation	අපගේ ක්‍රියා පටිපාටියට අනුව මට ඔබව පරීක්ෂා කිරීමට අවශ්‍යයි. ඔයා කොහෙන්ද එන්නේ? මම දැක්කා ඔයා ටිකක් කලබල වෙලා කියලා.
	Student	මම එන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙන්. මම මගේ මව් රටෙන් පිටත සංචාරය කළ පළමු අවස්ථාව මෙයයි. පිටවීමට දිශාව සොයා ගැනීමට මට කුඩා අපහසුවක් දැනුනි. මම වැරදීමකින් සංක්‍රමණ අංශයට ඇතුළු වූ අතර මම එතැනින් ආපසු එනවා.
	Translation	I’m coming from Sri Lanka. This is the first time I travelled outside my home country. I felt little difficulty to find direction to exit. I entered the transit section by mistake and I’m coming back from there.
3	Immigration Officer	Can I see your Visa please. Are you coming alone or are with someone? Please give me your passport also.
	Translation	කරුණාකර මට ඔබේ වීසා බලන්න පුළුවන්ද? ඔබ එන්නේ තනියමද නැතිනම් කවුරුන් හෝ සමඟද? කරුණාකර ඔබගේ විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්‍රයද මට දෙන්න.
	Student	මෙන්න මගේ වීසා සහ විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්‍රය, මම තනියම ආවා.
	Translation	Here is my visa and passport, I came alone.
4	Immigration Officer	Can you please open your bag. Our scanners had raised some indications on suspicious items. I need to have a look. Who is calling you, I noticed that you received multiple calls.
	Translation	කරුණාකර ඔබේ බෑගය විවෘත කළ හැකිද? අපගේ ස්කෑනර් යන්ත්‍ර මගින් සැක කටයුතු අයිතම පිළිබඳ යම් යම් ඇඟවීම් මතු කර තිබුණි. මට බලන්න ඕනේ. ඔබට කතා කරන්නේ කවුද, ඔබට ඇමතුම් කිහිපයක් ලැබුණු බව මම දුටුවෙමි.
	Student	සර් මගේ අයියා ගුවන් තොටුපළින් එළියේ බලාගෙන ඉන්නවා. ඔහු මා එළියට එනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂාවෙන් සිටින අතර ඔහු මට කතා කිරීමට උත්සාහ කරයි. මම හිතන්නේ, ඔහු කනස්සල්ලට පත්ව සිටින අතර මට ඉක්මනින් යා යුතුය.
	Translation	Sir, my brother is waiting outside Airport. He is expecting me to come out and he is trying to call me. I think, he is worrying and I have to go soon.
5	Immigration Officer	You or your brother do not need to worry, we are performing our duties. We have to check the passengers if required in order to protect everyone.
	Translation	ඔබ හෝ ඔබේ සහෝදරයා කලබල විය යුතු නැත, අපි අපගේ යුතුකම් ඉටු කරමු. සෑම කෙනෙකුම ආරක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්ය නම් අපි මගීන් පරීක්ෂා කළ යුතුය.
	Student	ඔව්, මට තේරුම් ගන්න පුළුවන්. නමුත් මගේ බෑගයේ නීතිවිරෝධී භාණ්ඩ කිසිවක් නොමැත. මම ශිෂ්‍යයෙක් වන අතර මෙය මගේ පළමු ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ සංචාරයයි. මම හිතන්නේ ස්කෑන් යන්ත්රය වැරදි අනතුරු ඇඟවීමක් දීලා විය හැක.
	Translation	Yes, I can understand. But I don’t have any illegal items in my bag. I’m a student and this is my first visit to Australia. I think scanning machine has given a false alarm.
6	Immigration Officer	Sorry, I have to check your baggage, please open baggage urgently. There are other passengers are waiting.
	Translation	සමාවන්න, මට ඔබේ ගමන් මලු පරීක්ෂා කිරීමට සිදුවේ, කරුණාකර ඉක්මනින් ගමන් මලු විවෘත කරන්න. තවත් මගීන් බලාගෙන ඉන්නවා.
	Student	හරි, මම බෑගය විවෘත කළා, ඔබට පරීක්ෂා කරන්න පුළුවන්. ඔබගේ ක්‍රියා පටිපාටි කඩිනමින් සම්පූර්ණ කළ හැකි නම් මම අගය කරමි.
	Translation	Ok, I opened the bag, you can check. I appreciate if you can complete your procedures urgently.
7	Immigration Officer	What are these fruits and vegetables. You are not allowed to bring these into Australia from other countries.
	Translation	මොනවද මේ පලතුරු සහ එළවලු. වෙනත් රටවලින් මේවා ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවට ගෙන ඒමට ඔබට අවසර නැත.
	Student	මේවා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ පලතුරු සහ එළවළු වේ. එළියේ ඉන්න අයියාට දෙන්න අම්මා දුන්නා. මේ බඩු ගෙනියන්න දෙන්නේ නෑ කියලා මම දැනගෙන හිටියේ නැහැ.
	Translation	These are fruits and vegetables from Sri Lanka. My mother gave me to give to my elder brother who is waiting outside. I was not aware that these items are not allowed to bring.
8	Immigration Officer	I can understand, however as per the immigration’s rules, I cannot allow you to bring these. I have to take these fruits and vegetables into my custody.
	Translation	මට තේරෙනවා, කෙසේ වෙතත්, ආගමන නීති වලට අනුව, මට ඔබට මේවා ගෙන ඒමට ඉඩ දිය නොහැක. මේ පලතුරු එලවලු ටික මගේ භාරයට ගන්න වෙනවා.
	Student	මම දැන් කුමක් කල යුතුද? මේක මගේ පැත්තෙන් බරපතළ වරදක්ද?
	Translation	What should I do now? Is this a serious mistake from my side?
9	Immigration Officer	We experienced that most of the passengers who arrive for the first time bring these types of things from their home country, because they are not aware our immigration rules.
	Translation	පළමු වතාවට පැමිණෙන බොහෝ මගීන් අපගේ ආගමන නීති නොදන්නා නිසා ඔවුන් තම මව් රටින් මෙවැනි දේවල් රැගෙන එන බව අපි අත්දැක ඇත්තෙමු.
	Student	මට දැන් යන්න පුළුවන්ද, මගේ සහෝදරයා මට නැවත කතා කරනවා, නැතිනම් මට දුරකථනයට පිළිතුරු දිය හැකිද?
	Translation	Can I go now, my brother is calling me again, or can I answer the phone?
10	Immigration Officer	You can go now, other items in the bag are fine. Thank you for your cooperation.
	Translation	ඔයාට දැන් යන්න පුළුවන්, බෑග් එකේ තියෙන අනිත් දේවල් හොඳයි. ඔබගේ සහයෝගයට ස්තුතියි.
	Student	ඔබගේ කරුණාවට ස්තුතියි.
	Translation	Thank you for your kindness.
